Die britische Regierung soll Mobilfunkunternehmung bei der Durchsetzung überhöhter Roaminggebühren geholfen haben:

MEPs had wanted to introduce maximum charges per minute of 27p for international calls, and 10p for receiving calls while abroad.
But in the end the EU had to settle for top rates of 34p and 17p, after protests led by the UK.
According to newspaper reports today, the Government's lead negotiator was in regular email contact with major mobile firms.

The disclosures also include minutes of meetings held between former Industry Minister Margaret Hodge and companies including Orange and T-Mobile.

T-Mobile sent thanks to Ms Hodge last November 'for the Government's help and support on European regulations, particularly mobile roaming'.
