Christopher Boyd of FaceTime Security Labs wrote an a href=http://blog.spywareguide.com/2009/03/wii-points-generators-avoid.htmlinteresting post regarding YouTube videos/a that promote Nintendo Wii Points Generators. Theyre a scam of coursehellip; and greedy victims attempting to steal Wii Points will get a malicious backdoor called Bifrose for their trouble.br /br /img width=510 height=429 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints01.png alt=WiiPoints01 /br /br /Checking out some of the videos for ourselves, we discovered that the video information sections linked to a RapidShare download called Generator.exe. Thats the trojan-dropper that installs Bifrose.br /br /There are a number of such Wii scams on YouTube, and for several months too.br /br /img width=625 height=1000 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints02.png alt=WiiPoints02 /br /br /At the top of the list is itunesGenerator, age 18:br /br /img width=310 height=235 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints06.png alt=WiiPoints06 /br /br /His Wii Points video has almost 36,000 views.br /br /And his channel has 252 Subscribers??? We thought that was interesting.br /br /img width=475 height=500 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints05.png alt=WiiPoints05 /br /br /Who are these people? Fake accounts to support his feedback? Or affiliates that have purchased backdoor access?br /br /And heres a selection of his positive feedback:br /br /img width=635 height=575 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints03.png alt=WiiPoints03 /br /br /Of course the comments are moderated. Do you think our comment will be approved?br /br /img width=310 height=170 border=0 src=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/WiiPoints04.png alt=WiiPoints04 /br /br /No mdash; Not very likely.br /br /We flagged the video with YouTube, but as Mikkos a href=http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001619.htmlpost from last week shows/a, YouTube doesnt really have an exact match for this type of scam. You can flag videos for visual content promoting physical bodily harm, but its more difficult to warn of content with harmful consequences to your computer, should you follow its advice.br /br /bWe hope this is something that YouTube acts on soon./b pOn 18/03/09 At 05:33 PM/p
